Thailand
Thailand has more visitors than any other country in southeast Asia with its diverse offerings of natural beauty, temples, hospitality, superb cuisine and ancient ruins. Thailand's monsoons season is Jul -Nov . They can be a particularly humid and unplesant time to visit. Nov to Feb is dry and cool and Mar to Jun is much warmer and more pleasant in comparison. The best time to visit is Feb to Mar and the beaches are at their best. Peak seasons are many - Aug, Nov, Dec, Feb and Mar. The key resorts in Thailand are Phuket, the city of Bangkok, Koh Samui, Cha Am, Krabi, Pattaya and Hua Hin. Trips can be combined with stays in Kong Kong and / or Dubai is increasingly popular.
Bali
Picture perfect rice paddy fields step down hillsides, volcanoes reach through the clouds, lush rainforests and some superb beaches. The cooler dry season from Apr to Oct is the best time to visit Bali. The rest of the year is quite humid, cloudy and has more rainstorms. You can still have a good holiday though! The European summer holidays is the busiest time - July - Aug. Festivals in Bali, holidays and celebrations happen frequently so don't worry about trying to avoid these when planning your trip.
Singapore
Singapore is one of the hip and trendy capitals of the east. Super efficient in everything that happens here, spotless streets and everyone on best behaviour. You can still go colonial with a Singapore Sling at the Raffles Hotel, or even stay there should you be looking for a little extravagance. At first glance, Concrete / glass city ont he surface, but this is a truly Asian city where long standing tradition creates part of the everyday landscape. Go to Singapore anytime as it has fairly steady annual rainfall. Thaipusam is a spectacular Hindu festival that happens in Feb. Apr sees the Singapore Food Festival and the well known Great Singapore Sale is held in June.
Hong Kong
Hong Kong - as with most cities of it's size, it has it's fair share of noise, smog and people. Yet, it still runs very efficiently, and can still be quite peaceful. The transport as can be expected, is excellent, the shopping centres are superb, and the temples and quiet corners of parks are a pleasure to stumple across. Hong Kong is a mish mash of Chinese, multi-Asian and Western influences - and it's great! - new tastes, rushing through the crowds and sucking up noodles. Oct through Dec are the best times to visit Hong Kong; the skies are nice and clear and the sun is kind. In Jun through Aug the intense heat and heavy downpours may not be everyones cup of tea but the sun still shines if you can put up with it.
Malaysia
Malaysia is one of the most laid back and interesting countries to visit in Asia. It's love of everything Western is evident in its cities. Aside from the all glass skyscrapers, Malaysia has some of the most superb pristine beaches, mountain ranges and national parks in Asia. No matter when you visit Malaysia you are almost certain to get heat and humidity. Nov through Jan is the rainy season so best avoided.
Borneo
Borneo is known worldwide for its wildlife and jungles. No visit would be complete without seeing its Orang Utans and the famous Mount Kinabalu in Sabah. Of course it's national parks and marine species are also second to none.
Vietnam
Vietnam tends to surprise first time visitors. The Red River Delta, the Mekong Delta and almost all the coastal strip are covered in rice paddies tended by local women. There are a number of beautiful beaches, there are mountains, many draped in lush forest. Vietnam remains traditional and has yet to pick up many western facets that inevitably will come. the The sun and humidity occurs end of Feb through to May. The central coast is dry from May to Oct and wet from Dec to Feb. In the north there is the possibility of typhoons between Jul and Nov, affecting the north and central regions. Visitors should take the Tet Festival (late Jan or early Feb) into account when planning a visit.
